Madelena Chenier

Born and raised in Edmonton, I moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2019 to begin a Master’s degree in Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the WCVM. As my husband and I looked for a house to rent, I had one main criteria- it had to be large-dog friendly so I could adopt my first greyhound! Just a month after moving, we travelled back to Edmonton to meet a few available dogs and fell head over heels with a young black greyhound named Waubun Chill- now known as Archie. Right away, we joined up with a small group of other greyhound owners in Saskatoon and frequently coordinated “fun runs” and meet-ups, discovering just how tight-knit and supportive the greyhound community is! Seven months later a big fuzzy lurcher named Riggs joined our family, and then in 2020 we bought an acreage near Asquith to give the dogs more room to run. Since then, we fostered a few more greyhounds through NSGA before “foster-failing” and adopting our third, a little lurcher girl named Opal in 2022.
I have felt so welcome and “at home” with the NSGA community since day one, and am thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved as a foster home, Facebook page administrator, and board committee member.
