Susan Lohse

In September 2003 I found myself driving from Winnipeg to Calgary to meet my first greyhound, Jack. Although I had waited for this moment for a long time, I was excited and scared at the same time.
After reading an article a few years earlier I had decided that this was the right dog for me, but I had never actually seen one here in Winnipeg. And then I met Cody. He was just beautiful and so sweet and I was smitten.

I soon found I was able to assist the group by becoming an adoption representative here in Winnipeg. How rewarding that was! Helping other families and greys find each other! Meanwhile, my personal pack grew, Jilly joined us in 2005 followed by Joshy in 2008. I currently share my life with Jonah and Jessie.

I soon discovered that when you adopt a greyhound you adopt a community. In Winnipeg, we have a devoted group of greyhound owners that get together regularly for walks and runs. I made lifelong friends with several people from my adoption group in Alberta. The internet community of greyhound lovers also become a resource and support near and dear to my heart.
